How to Mount/Use a .bin file

You’ve just downloaded a game from a torrent somewhere, just can’t wait to install and play away. ‘Ooh, the fun I’m gonna have!’ But then you realize your torrent consists of .bin files, nothing else. And the instructions (if present) say that you must mount these files? But you can’t do it in the conventional way as you would do with an .mdf of an .iso file. So what to do? Read on.

Well, the real process is quite easy. For this example lets take the name of the .bin file as ExampleGame.bin. Just complete the following steps:

Open up notepad.
Type the following code into it:

FILE “ExampleGame.bin” BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00

Please take note that you replace the ExampleGame.bin (highlighted in red) with the file name of your bin file
Now save this notepad file into the same directory (folder) as of your bin file and name the file as ExampleGame.cue.

Cue and bin file must have same name and must be in same folder

Remember to change the notepad file name to the name of your bin file, but with the .cue extension. That’s it, now open up your mounting application (like Daemon Tools) and then select the cue file. The file will get mounted.

How to Play .bik files

You’ve probably played games like Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones or F.E.A.R. The thing that I look out the most in the game is the in-game cut scenes. The highly entertaining and wonderfully animated videos just light me up. But how to view them when not playing the game? Well search for the files in the directory (or folder) where you have installed your game. Some of the games have such videos with the ‘.bik’ extension. So how to play them?

Well for a little bit of general knowledge, .bik files are used as intro or cutscene videos in games. Their used specially as they help reduce overall size of the video (as compared to other common formats like .avi etc.) while leaving a maximum resolution of 800×600.

So how to play them? Well just head-over to the radgametools.com website and download ‘The RAD Video Tools’, which is just a 1.2MB free download. Once downloaded and installed, just head-over to the game directory and double-click on the .bik file. You can also access this tool via the Start menu => BINK and Smacker => RAD Video Tools

The player also allows the files to be converted to other popular formats like .avi and .wmv. However while playing .bik files, you cannot view them in full-screen mode.

Store Files of upto 10 GB For Free with AnyHub

Online storage and file sharing spaces are aplenty for users these days. Lock File(s) on Windows Without Using Any Software

How many times have you wished for a software, using which you can hide or lock files, restricting its access to other unwanted users. Although there are several such softwares available in the market, using which you can easily lock/hide files but, I personally dont trust them because most of them are bloatware or spyware.Here’s a simple yet powerful way of locking and hiding important files without the use of any software.

Follow the instructions to make you own Locker ( Without any software !! ) :

Open notepad.
Copy the following code in notepad file :

Change the “YOUR PASSWORD HERE” with your password ( Marked as RED above ).
Save it as batch file ( with extension .bat ) For eg. Locker.bat
Now you will see a batch file. Double click it to create a folder locker ( A new folder named Locker would be formed at the same location )
Thats it you have now created your own locker and that too without using any software !

Brings all the files you want to hide in the locker folder. Double click the batch ( As created above ) file to lock the folder namely Locker.

If you want to unlock your files, simple double click the batch file again and you would be prompted for password ( In DOS window ). Enter the password and enjoy access to the folder.
