Hyperlinks or links for that fact are one of the most common things that are found on any webpage. To exaggerate a bit, it could also be called the life and blood of a page based on HTML. However only a single link can be alloted to a single word. How would you like something like this link (hover on ‘link’) on your site? Read on to know more.

Butns is a tool that will allow you to create cool, drop-down menu’s for your links and it is very easy to configure as well. First go to the site butns.com. You will see four main boxes in the homepage. The first box is for which word you want as your display word (for eg. I had used ‘link’). The second box is for selecting the style of your link like bold, underlined, dotted, bold-underlined, double-underlined and page default. The next box asks you for what all links you want to include in your drop-down menu. There are many preset links present, which are neatly divided into categories. However you can add your own custom link by inserting it into the ‘Enter Specific link’ textbox at the bottom of the third box. The final box includes the code that you need to insert into your web-page. All in all a good tool, for some handsome make-up for your site.

Blogger Offers Alternative for any Content that was Hosted on Google Pages

The imminent closing down of Google Pages might not be news, but the efforts that Google are taking in order that users get a smooth transition, once Google Pages closes down, is great! Firs there was the ‘download all your content‘ campaign, and now it is offering blogger (blogspot) users a chance to backup all their scripts (or for that fact any references to googlepages) on to a new server @ bloggerhosting.appspot.com
If your template makes any reference to google pages (like scripts or css), you would notice the message immediately once you log in to your blogger dashboard:

The message reads as follows:

Update your templates

Your templates include links to files hosted on Google Page Creator, a service that is soon migrating to Google Sites. Do you want Blogger to update those links now? Learn more

There is a ‘Update and review‘ link at the bottom of the message. Once you click it the new domain,’bloggerhosting.appspot.com’ would ask you to allow permissions to access your account. Just approve it.

Once done, you will be redirected to a page that will show all your blogs and check which one’s have references to googlepages (in their template.)

If any of your blog has a reference to googlepages in it, just click on the ‘Update References >>‘ link. It will now ask you to download (and backup) your template.

After clicking on ‘Next‘, all your references (like the scripts or css files or images) will be automatically uploaded to bloggerhosting.appspot.com. For eg. my script, that was previously hosted on http://myfreehouse2.googlepages.com/lightbox.js would now be moved to http://bloggerhosting.appspot.com/serve/myfreehouse2.googlepages.com/lightbox.js

Now all you need to do is click the ‘Update‘ button at the bottom, and your template will be modified with all the new links. Pretty neat!

So don’t wait much, as it seems the Google will now hurry up the closing of GP, and you wouldn’t want to lose any of your data, eh?
