As you can see that i had earlier posted the 1st part of the Run command list as Windows Run Command Cheat Sheet. This post consists of more of the other Run commands that are available for Windows as well as for some of the installed applications.

Windows provides a tool for direct and easy access to different windows features. Also many of the windows users are unaware of it and many use it very often. It is the Run command using which one can access any of the windows provided feature or also installed applications. Fast access to some applications and some of the rarely known customization options on Windows operating systems.The shortcut key for the Run command is Windows + [R]

Trick to Check if Your Anti-Virus is Working or Not

A simple and neat trick, that you must definitely try. There are times when we are doubtful, as to wether the antivirus installed is working or not, especially when the computer starts to run slow. Slowing down of you PC might have a host of another reasons, like Windows Update, Nero or any other application working in the background, less RAM capacity etc. Anyways here is a trick to check whether your antivirus is working or not.

Open notepad and copy the code below, into it and then save it with the name ‘VIRUS.EXE’ .(Without the quotes)

Result

If this file gets deleted immediately it means your anti-virus has recognise the file as a virus. That means your antivirus is working and updated.Note:If not immedeatly it will be removed if you run a scan. Even after that if it does not go, time to check your anti-virus.
If the file is not deleted even after the scan, then its time to get a new anti-virus!

Lock File(s) on Windows Without Using Any Software

How many times have you wished for a software, using which you can hide or lock files, restricting its access to other unwanted users. Although there are several such softwares available in the market, using which you can easily lock/hide files but, I personally dont trust them because most of them are bloatware or spyware.Here’s a simple yet powerful way of locking and hiding important files without the use of any software.

Follow the instructions to make you own Locker ( Without any software !! ) :

Open notepad.
Copy the following code in notepad file :

Change the “YOUR PASSWORD HERE” with your password ( Marked as RED above ).
Save it as batch file ( with extension .bat ) For eg. Locker.bat
Now you will see a batch file. Double click it to create a folder locker ( A new folder named Locker would be formed at the same location )
Thats it you have now created your own locker and that too without using any software !

Brings all the files you want to hide in the locker folder. Double click the batch ( As created above ) file to lock the folder namely Locker.

If you want to unlock your files, simple double click the batch file again and you would be prompted for password ( In DOS window ). Enter the password and enjoy access to the folder.

Let me clarify at the very beginning, there isn’t any catch over here. The free calls that you can make using this trick does not require a purchase or completing an offer of any kind. Actually its just manipulating services so that we can make free calls!The only catch or should I say limitation, is that the call time is limited to 5 minutes per call. Reading this, if you were going to close this (Browser)window I want to tell you that there are no limitations on the number of calls you make in a day. What do you say now ? This service, although is available for people living in USA only but there is a way around to get it working for persons living anywhere in the world. Follow the below mentioned steps and get in touch with your friends, family or acquaintances ( Whom you haven’t met in a long time ) :-

For users living in USA –

You need to call a toll-free number, so if you call from Landline its a free call for you. Mobile calls, am afraid could be charged (local charges).
Call 18003733411 from your US Landline/Mobile. The operator will greet you with a welcome message and ask you to select one of the FREE411 service. The Last option is Free Call. You don’t have to press any number or key to select but instead say FREE CALL loudly in your phone.
This voice message will be read by their server and you will go to next step to actually make a free international call. Now they will run a short ad about 5 secs. When the ad stops, you can start dialing your international number in countycode+citycode (if any)+phone number format. ( Please DO NOT press # or *, its NOT required.)
The call will be automatically placed to the desired number. The operator prompts your call is getting connected. Once connected you can talk for upto 5 minutes and then your call is disconnected.
You can talk upto 5 minutes per call. You can make multiple calls.

For users living OUTSIDE USA –

Not living in USA ? Well there is always another way of doing things, follow the below mentioned steps to take advantage of this awesome service :-

For making free calls, you will be needing yahoo messenger voice client for pc. You can download it from this link.
Click on the yahoo voice tab as shown in the image below:
Click on the ‘ Call a Phone Number from my PC… ‘ option.
Dial the number (18003733411) and press enter.
Your call will be connected and you would notice a prompt, which says there is no charge for this call.
Now follow the 3rd and 4th step mentioned above for USA users.

That’s it !!!

You can now make mutiple calls with a time period of 5 minutes per call.

PLEASE NOTE — This service is totally advertisement based so please do not abuse/violate the system.

UPDATE : Many of the Indian readers were complaining of them not being able to use the service. It might be due to the fact that while using yahoo messenger, you will be asked for option to select the country at that time you have to select USA and NOT India. If you are still facing any problems, leave a comment here.
Yet another UPDATE (I know it’s getting boring!!): Looks like Y Messenger just stopped working in the above fashion in India! Found an alternative, just use Skype!
